This tragic loss of life represents a grievous violation of human rights and poses a serious threat to peace and security within our communities. Hunters have historically played a vital role in maintaining the balance of our ecosystems and flourishing wildlife. These individuals often operate pursuant to traditional practices and cultural heritage, contributing to their communities in many affirmative ways. Any punitive actions taken against them must involve due process, respect for human rights, and adherence to the rule of law.  We call on the Edo State Government to: 1. Sokapu youth wing under the leadership of Barr. Jerry Mendous Maikano condemns in strong terms the statements made by Bashir El-Rufai on X suggesting that the killings in southern kaduna will linger if the residents continue to attack herdsmen. This is coming at a time when the region is battling on all angles to remain peaceful and law-abiding even with the persistent kidnapping and killing of its innocent citizens.  We call on security agencies to properly investigate the statement as such should not be treated with kind gloves. We as a matter of security concern demand an immediate apology and retraction of that statement. As failure to do so may impede the peace efforts being put in place by the federal and State government respectively. We equally call on all southern kaduna youths to remain peaceful and law-abiding and refrain from making statements of this nature.
