SOKAPU ELECTION: DR. SAMUEL T. ACHIE'S UNVEIL VISION FOR SOUTHERN KADUNA..

_A defining path for a reunification of Southern Kaduna of our Dream.

INTRODUCTION:

Southern Kaduna is blessed with vast land and mineral resources that could change the fortune of its citizens if well-harnessed.

It is blessed with both human and natural resources that is best described as God's given heritage, which needs to be guided and protected.

The Southern Kaduna region is also blessed with over *50* ethnic nationalities with many of its sons and daughters traversing the Six (6) geopolitical zones of the nation and the diaspora.

By way of focus, the Southern Kaduna as an entity has all that it takes to be developed, remains united, and peaceful given the available human and material resources at our disposal.

Hence, Dr Achie is determined to reunite southern Kaduna to it's status quo. He felt the need to put in his head on the ring and put together a dedicated team of young and middle age under his leadership as president (if elected) to take SOKAPU to its desired destination.

Based on the above, Dr Achie's mission is to lead a team of respected sons and daughters of Southern Kaduna that will give SOKAPU the legal impetus to operate unhindered with the aim of restoring and sustaining the region towards a greater goal.

 In a quest to achieve thag (when given the opportunity), our team will take some informed actions that will give every southern Kaduna indigene the right of place to own SOKAPU.

 

As the leader of the team when elected, Dr Achie will ensure all stakeholders like: youth, women, political class, academia, civil servants, and security personnel both serving and retired and the business class are brought together in synergy to ensure that the region is given a first lift and led to its rightful place.

In doing this, when elected, the CEC will go into a retreat to come up with a blueprint on the way forward for southern Kaduna.

This will be discussed and shared with elected representatives at all levels, our traditional leaders, and other stakeholders for all to understand the vision and key into it.

The blueprint will also serve as the working document for the CEC on the basis of which our performance can be evaluated.

Also, we will ensure that the traditional institutions in the region are carried along in all our actions in order to get their wealth of experience as most if not all of them are individuals that have made their mark in their previous professional practice and building the region.

OUR ACTION PLAN: 

When elected to serve as SOKAPU president, the following demonstrates our policy directly:

LEGAL/STRUCTURAL DEVELOPMENT:

✓SOKAPU will be registered with the corporate affairs commission within the shortest possible time.

✓ We will work to ensure that SOKAPU secure a befitting office facility in Kafanchan so that our operational headquarters will be in Southern Kaduna with liaison offices in Kaduna and Abuja.

✓ A project will be inaugurated to ensure that SOKAPU House is built and commissioned two years after taking office.

✓ We will create a functioning digital and online platform for SOKAPU to enable engagement with sons and daughters across the globe.

✓ We will seek for and establish partnerships with local and international businesses, NGOs, development partners, bilateral and multi-lateral organizations for the development of the region.

SECURITY:

Because we are not yet an independent state, we may not be able to build and equip our own army to defend our people. However, here is what we will do:

✓ We will build our own intelligence structures for intelligence gathering/sharing that will aid in the fight for the emancipation of our people from attacks.

We will write to all the security formations in the region of our resolve and willingness as a people to work with them to put an end to the killings in the region.

ECONOMY DEVELOPMENT:

This is what we will do:

We will hold an Annual Southern Kaduna Economic Summit to engage investors and development partners for the development of the region.

We will establish an independent NGO for the region tasked with the responsibility of working with development partners and multilateral organizations to attract community-based development projects for the region.

We will introduce programmes aimed at harnessing the potentials and energies of our young people such as Business Plan Competitions, Music/Talent Shows, Exhibitions/Trade Fairs, Digital and Online Trainings and Skills Acquisition.

We will setup the Southern Kaduna Chambers of Commerce/Business Forum as a common platform for all businesses operating within the region and for all businessmen and women from the region.

We will create market synergy between our market and that of the eastern, western, and southern Nigeria.

EDUCATIONAL/HUMAN DEVELOPMENT:

Education has been identified with progress and prosperity.

In fact, the spread of education is treated as an effective solution to the problems of economic decline, hunger, and human poverty. We will work hard to:

Identify our sons and daughters who have excelled in their fields of endeavors and partner with them to come up with the best ways to build the capacity of our productive population.

Setup a Southern Kaduna Development Fund to support students, businesses, and communities in the areas of socio- economic development, disaster support, crisis support etc.

From the Development Fund, we will work hard to create incubation centers where talented artisans and entrepreneurs will acquire the skills and training necessary to build multi-million Naira enterprises to employ thousands of our youths.

We will partner with our sons and daughters and friends who are experts in the digital economy to create digital courses in tech and other related skills to make our people equipped for the skills and technological demands of the future.

We will run round the clock to harness support everywhere possible to build systems that will support talented youths to do extraordinary things.

AGRICULTURE:

We will promote and encourage full commercial agricultural practice to harness the potentials of our leading cash crops in the region.

We will work with the State Government to ensure the full implementation of the Kaduna State Ginger Investment Policy. 

We will liaise with all agencies of government at the Federal, State and LGAs that has to do with agriculture which is the main stay of the region to show their presence in order to help the farmers with timely technical advises on how to avoid great losses to them as it is the case with the ginger farmers in the region today.

ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY:

We will work hard to develop a platform for our artists to create and promote our rich and vibrant cultural heritage.

We will create a platform to identify young and budding talents in arts and entertainment within the region and connect them with opportunities and mentors.

SPORTS DEVELOPMENT:

We will partner with local and international sports men and women and institutions to harness the sports potentials of our youths.

We will revive sports activities in our communities through the building of sports centers (handball, basketball, lawn tennis and mini football pitch).

RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT:

We will conduct an in-depth assessment of natural mineral potentials of the region.

We will support our experts in various fields to come up with solutions that will help our people to maximize our natural endowments.

POLITICAL AND CIVIC:

We will engage both the state and the local governments by all diplomatic and political means to ensure equal development of the region by all agencies of government.

We will immediately have a parley with those in the academia to brainstorm on the lopsided appointments in tertiary institutions in the state to come up with a way forward.

We will engage with the state government to ensure that the government owned tertiary institutions in the region are given a face lift by the government. E.g. The KADSU Kafanchan campus, Nuhu Bamali Samaru campus, College of Education Gidan Waya, Federal School of Statistics Manchok, School of Nursing Kafanchan and our secondary and primary schools in the region.

We will open discussion with those that have invested so heavily in the educational development of the region like the owner and the management of Nok University in Kachia to form a delegation of the southern Kaduna stakeholders to visit the present administration in Abuja to plead for the lift of the ban on the operation of the university.

We will work hard to establish contacts and discussions with all southern Kaduna sons and daughters in the diaspora and influence them to join the conversation about how best to take southern Kaduna to the next level.

CONSTITUTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

All committees as enshrined in the SOKAPU constitution will be formed in order to swing into action immediately.

The constitution will be reviewed with immediate effect to amend some of the loop holes in it.

We will form a legal team made up of prominent sons and daughters in the legal profession to advice accordingly.

We will carry out a visit to all paramount rulers in the region to brief them of the blueprint and how they can key into it, and encourage the full participation of youths and women on some of the decisions that are always taken in their domain as they are the most vulnerable in the society in the event of any eventualities.

We will meet our brothers the Hausas and the Fulanis in the region to talk about the way of peace as the spade of the killings in the region have not done any of us good in the past years of the carnage.

We will consult with all the community development associations and our paramount rulers of the need for Southern Kaduna cultural feistier that will help in showcasing our rich cultural heritage which could either be annually or bi- annually.

Our Distinguished Senator Sunday Marshal is already setting a pace, we will synergies with him and his other colleagues in the national and state assembly to keep up the good work and encourage our elected LGA chairmen and our commissioners from the region to follow suit.

Based on the above, our team's operational activities in the heart of Southern Kaduna will give us the ample time and opportunity to build bridges of peace and share ideas on the economic emancipation across the different ethnic nationalities in the region.

Therefore, a task like the forth coming election we are about going into could be a more successful venture if viewed as a collective task instead of a one man show which requires a dogged and pragmatic leader to lead Southern Kaduna to full attainment of its potentials in human and natural endowments.

People of Southern Kaduna Communities got it right this time around by bringing onboard the most experience and dedicated Community leaders into the Contest.

This is made possible because of the Achie's vast understanding of sociocultural terrain. It's only a team of such experienced community leaders that stand a chance to achieve the aspirations of Southern Kaduna people as enshrined in our Union's Vision statement.
